Protect

As the population around the Sierra continues to grow, there is an increasing need to help protect it's natural beauty. There is a fine balance between prevention or control and abusive access to various regions of the Sierra. There is no single right answer for all of the challenges in preserving our natural areas and wildernesses for the future. There are places that are so beautiful that all should see, but overuse of an area can destroy both the natural beauty as well as the experience.

To help protect the Sierra Nevada mountains there are several ways to help out. Earth Day is a great way to get involved, not only in the Sierra but anywhere you live. There are several organization available to help you learn, volunteer, or get involved with preserving our limited resources for future generations to enjoy. A list of organizations that help protect the Sierra Nevada.

The Sierra has several wilderness areas that are a result of the commitment of people and organizations focused on preserving land that has strict guidelines on development and access. These special places are set aside in their most primitive state for you and future generations to enjoy a wilderness experience.

If your interested in planning a trip to one of our wilderness areas, please ensure that you understand our responsibility to help protect and preserve the area.

Reflect

Reflection about wonderful experiences in nature can bring great pleasure, help you through troubled times, or help you in defining purpose. The Sierra offers a wide variety of potential experiences including photography, site seeing, hiking, backpacking, biking, rafting, camping, and the list goes on.

As we live our lives we should take some the time to reflect on the past; as we look to the future we should ensure we are balancing future plans as a society and use our past experiences to help us be better stewards of the the natural beauty the Sierra provides. We all share the responsibility to ensure the enjoyment of the Sierra Nevada Mountains for future generations.
